Just like the products that kill flies in house and repellants, there are tons of fruit fly repellant procedures that you could utilize as well. In fact, some of the most popular house fly repellants are effective as well in repelling fruit flies.

Even so, there are still those methods and ways that would largely focus on repelling and eliminating fruit flies. One great example is found in this post wherein a very effective repellant is highlighted. But, if you are looking for the easiest ways to do it, here are some pointers that you may look at:

Wine As A Fruit Fly Repellent

Did you know that fruit flies are very much attracted to the scent of a wine? If you don't then you may want to try this today.

You may use any kind of wine that you have. Whether it's old or new, just leave it uncapped and place it on the area where the fruit flies are very apparent.

They will surely fly inside the wine bottle since the smell will attract them. And once they are inside, they won't escape since it's either they drown already or they can't simply escape due to the length of the bottle's neck.

Covered Apple Cider Vinegar

Just like the scent of a wine, fruit flies are also attracted to the smell of vinegar. And if you have an unfiltered apple cider vinegar, then you're good to go and eliminate those fruit flies.

All you need to do is to pour a portion of the apple cider vinegar on a glass or jar. You don't need to fill it up to the brim but make sure that the amount inside the jar will allow the fragrance to strike through.

Now, place a piece of plastic on top of the glass or jar. Secure it with a rubber band and pick holes on the plastic. This will allow the fragrance to pass through and effectively attract the fruit flies.

Once the fruit flies get attracted, they will fly through the holes but it is ensured that they can no longer fly to escape.

Fresh Lemons As A Fruit Fly Repellant

Lemons are not only beneficial for the body but they are also beneficial to your surrounding and environment. This is because the smell and the fragrance of lemons are very unappealing for fruit flies. For some reason, they naturally repel fruit flies and make them fly away from the area.

By simply slicing lemons and placing them on the areas where these fruit flies are usually hanging around, you can then enjoy a fruit fly-free surrounding. Moreover, it will make your space smell much fresher and cleaner.

Vinegar and Soap Mixture

If you don't have an unfiltered apple cider vinegar, any kind of vinegar will do. All you need to do is to mix a portion of vinegar with a few drops of soap solution.

Place the mixture in a cup or a bowl. Leave it open and uncovered. Once the fruit flies smell the fragrance of the vinegar, they would surely fly into it. Unknowingly, they would instead sip the soap solution. It will either make them fly away or kill fruit flies instantly.
